AFMR - PPARγ: a novel molecular target in lung disease
Back to Experimental Biology 2007
Title of symposium presentation: PPARγ: a novel molecular target in lung disease
Organizer Name: Mike Hart, MD
Institution: Emory University and Atlanta VA Medical Center
Address: 1670 Clairmont Road (151-P), Decatur, GA 30033
Abstract:
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors. Emerging evidence indicates that PPARγ regulates gene expression and function within several cellular compartments of the lung. This symposium will emphasize the therapeutic implications of these findings for seemingly diverse types of lung disease and clarify current understanding of the basic molecular and biochemical mechanisms by which PPARγ participates in lung cell biology.
