Dear Colleague,
The first time in the history of the Southern Regional Meetings, the Southern Regional Meeting will not be held in New

and Peer-Reviewed Publication with other workshops offered in the afternoon: Transforming Teaching into Scholarship,
Introduction to Molecular Techniques: Basic Principles of Gene Regulation and Expression Analyses, and the
SSGIM Precourse entitled How to Succeed in Academic Medicine. Also on Friday afternoon, there will be a Pediatric
and Adult Medicine Clinical Case Symposia and a Cardiovascular Case Report Session. All meeting attendees are
welcome to attend any of the workshops/symposia being offered. The Joint Poster Session will be held on Friday
evening, followed by specialty club meetings.
SSPR and Joint SSCI/SAFMR Plenary Sessions as well as the APA Sponsored Workshop will be held on Saturday
morning followed by specialty club luncheons. In the afternoon, there will be Concurrent Subspecialty Scientific
Sessions including State-of-the-Art presentations.
Sunday's activities will kick-off with the Joint Plenary Session entitled Obesity: The Basic and Clinical Research
Supporting Public Policy and Current and Future Therapies. Following these programs, a Disaster Preparedness and
Management Luncheon will be held and is open to all attendees. In the afternoon, there will be additional Concurrent
Subspecialty Scientific Sessions and State-of-the-Art presentations. Please refer to the “Program-at-a-Glance” on the
